The NuPrime STA-9 is a 2 X 120 W class A+D stereo output stage, bridgeable to a 290 W mono amplifier. Designed with an improved harmonic circuit that mimics the most attractive characteristics of tube amplifier sound without suffering the drawbacks and limitations of tubes. The STA-9's large, transparent, dynamic, and luxuriously textured soundstage is an experience.

  • Single End Class A+D amplifier
  • Bridgeable, allowing switching between stereo or mono mode.
  • Enhanced H2 circuit (Even Order Harmonic) which resembles the most attractive features of tube amplifiers without its drawbacks and limitations.
  • Highly reliable in unloaded condition and improved short circuit protection.
  • High output current for low impedance loudspeakers.
  • Linear power supply with a high efficiency toroidal transformer. Reduced high frequency noise and improved low frequency performance.
  • The signal path avoids cross-linking capacitors, providing a DC-level frequency response for pure music enjoyment.

The STA-9 amplifier is based on the ULCAM (Ultra Linear Class A Module)+Class D design first introduced in the IDA-8. By combining a powerful, high-impedance amplifier circuit in the preamplifier stage with a well-integrated Class D power stage, the STA-9 delivers a rich, tube-like sound with the remarkable speed and clarity of the NuPrime Class D design. Audio enthusiasts are sure to be impressed.

The NuPrime amplifier circuit improves on the traditional Class D design by using a self-oscillating circuit to generate pulse-width modulation. The amplifier switches at a frequency of 550 kHz, which is well above the compact disc sampling rate of 44.1 kHz. Most Class D amplifiers switch at 300 kHz or lower. The ensemble is complemented by NuPrime's linear power supply with high-efficiency toroidal transformer for reduced high-frequency noise and better low-frequency performance. The damping effect of NuPrime isolation feet absorbs and cancels vibrations that degrade audio performance. The overall result is an impressive transient rate and an almost shocking level of dynamics.

How did STA-9 mono achieve better sound characteristics, besides more power than STA-9 stereo?
The standard method of bridging a stereo amplifier to mono uses a series of op-amps (OPAs) to invert the input signals to one of the stereo amplifiers, thereby creating an opposite phase, which can then be combined to increase power. Conversely, the STA-9's innovative bridge circuit uses a design called Single-Ended Direct-Inject Bridge Technology, in which the mono mode, in addition to more than doubling the power output, sounds livelier and more dynamic.

The NuPrime sound:
  • Wide soundstage
  • Wide, lightning-fast dynamics
  • Ultra-low distortion and noise
  • Music emerges from a clean and undistorted background, with clear details and intact nuances

In summary, the NuPrime's sonic character is distinctly different from - and even above - the smooth, pleasing sound we often associate with most tube amplifiers or the dry, clinically edgy sound we often associate with solid state and switching technology. Rarely does an amplifier achieve an ideal balance of richly textured timbres and overtones, authority in the low end, high dynamics, exquisite low-level detail, and a completely open, full-dimensional soundstage against a backdrop of mile-wide silence.

Buy&Try applies to the entire Aune, Auralic, Quadral, Sbooster & Taga range.

Buy & try gives you as a customer the opportunity to try out the product in your own home environment, instead of standing in a stressful store and trying to form an opinion. Rooms behave very differently and affect the sound in different ways and we give you the opportunity to demo the product for a full 30 days, in your own home.

If for some reason you feel dissatisfied, just contact us and we will help you with the return shipping, you can also take advantage of our shipping agreements with lower prices. Costs that will be charged to the customer are the shipping to the customer and the return shipping to us at MYC HiFi. For return approval, the item must be returned in new condition and in the original packaging.

Regarding speakers, be aware that speakers may need a long recording time to come into their own. After a couple of hours you can usually get a taste of what to expect, but a speaker deserves 100h+ before serious listening. The speakers we sell with ribbon tweeters need several hundred hours before they start to sing. So feel free to leave the speakers on around the clock so you can quickly accumulate hours.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Buy & Try applies to goods that are normally kept in stock and not to order goods, unless otherwise agreed.

We provide at least a 2-year warranty on all products, some products have up to a 5-year warranty. With this, you avoid expensive insurances and can feel safe as a customer. In case of problems during the warranty period, contact us and we will solve it quickly and smoothly.
