"Best Sound (highest value) - The best budget sound at the show was in Marriot tower room 6009 on Friday at 10:30 PM when I hooked up the new Resonessence Herus ($350) USB DAC to my MacPro portable and played my own 5.6 DSD recordings. As I listened through a pair of Audio-Technica AW-3000 headphones I was transported back to the moment the recordings were made. The Herus produced a level of sound quality that rivaled any DSD DAC I've heard, regardless of price."

Cutting edge, great sound quality and made in Canada.
Resonesence Labs is proud to announce the launce of HERUS, their latest DSD/DXD capable DAC with built in headphone amplifier. HERUS is the lowest cost DSD/DXD solution available today. HERUS is a USB 2.0 Asynchronous Audiophile grade DAC capable of 24/192 kHz as well as DXD/DSD.
HERUS is our smallest form-factor, audiophile quality USB to Headphone DAC. It uses the USB Audio 2.0 Asynchronous protocol and supports DSD64 and DSD128 as well as high data rate PCM at 24bits up to 352.8Ks/S. It is a USB powered device that achieves more than 100dB of SNR, (typically 108dB) and is capable of driving 2.4V RMS, (ie 6.8V pk-to-pk) into headphones from 600 Ohms to 32 Ohms. The distortion in all cases is better than 0.005% (85dB): the measured THD+N is typically 89dB for 32 Ohms and 90dB (about 0.003%) for 600 Ohms.
HERUS is designed to operate with MS Windows, MAC OS and Linux. You may download our Thesycon USB Audio 2.0 driverto enable USB Audio 2.0 on Windows. HERUS uses the ESS 9010-2M DAC, our custom code, and our own asynchronous algorithms that run in a generic Cypress USB interface chip.
We use Resonessence designed, advanced power line processing circuits that can reliably deliver more voltage range than the USB provided 5V, and we maintain the SNR of the power supply to a degree such that HERUS exhibits well over 100dB of SNR at the headphone output. HERUS also has a very low 0.2 Ohms output impedance that prevents external noise sources coupling into the output.
All Resonessence products feature upgradable firmware and hardware and despite its physically small size, HERUS also contains Resonessence upgradable hardware and firmware.
HERUS is machined from a solid block of aluminum and is 63.5mm (2.5in) long, by 31.7mm (1.25in) wide and 19mm (0.75in) high. It has just two connectors: a USB type 'B' socket on one end and a TRS 1/4inch Stereo Headphone connector at the other end. HERUS, like all Resonessence products is Designed, Manufactured, Tested and Shipped in Canada.
The total distortion (THD) on any HERUS will always be better than 85dB (ie less than 0.005% distortion) and the noise (SNR) will always be better than 100db, typically 108dB. More detailed specifications are:
Mark Mallinson, President of Resonessence Labs, had this to say about the launch of HERUS:
HERUS is the latest in our line of award winning Audio DAC's. We released INVICTA in 2011, a product that we believe really took Audio DAC technology to the next level. 2012 saw the introduction of CONCERO. In 2013 we introduced INVICTA Mirus followed closely thereafter with the introduction of CONCERO HD and CONCERO HP. Our goal is to produce state of the art audio products that we can be proud of. HERUS is just such a product."
Outputting up to 2.4V from its quarter inch headphone socket the HERUS can drive headphone loads from 600 Ohms down to 32 Ohms. Its fully compatible with Windows, OS X and Linux computers but, adding greater source flexibility to the mix, Resonessence Labs have confirmed that the HERUS works with the iPad + iOS 6 + CCK. iOS 7 compatibility TBC.

Buy&Try applies to the entire Aune, Auralic, Quadral, Sbooster & Taga range.

Buy & try gives you as a customer the opportunity to try out the product in your own home environment, instead of standing in a stressful store and trying to form an opinion. Rooms behave very differently and affect the sound in different ways and we give you the opportunity to demo the product for a full 30 days, in your own home.

If for some reason you feel dissatisfied, just contact us and we will help you with the return shipping, you can also take advantage of our shipping agreements with lower prices. Costs that will be charged to the customer are the shipping to the customer and the return shipping to us at MYC HiFi. For return approval, the item must be returned in new condition and in the original packaging.

Regarding speakers, be aware that speakers may need a long recording time to come into their own. After a couple of hours you can usually get a taste of what to expect, but a speaker deserves 100h+ before serious listening. The speakers we sell with ribbon tweeters need several hundred hours before they start to sing. So feel free to leave the speakers on around the clock so you can quickly accumulate hours.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
